The Town of Herman has contracted with Harter's Fox Valley Disposal for trash and
recycling pickup.  
Weekly trash and recycling pickup occurs every Thursday.  

HOLIDAY COLLECTIONS will be delayed one day, if the holiday is on a weekday, for the
following Holidays:  New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day,
Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.
  • HOUSEHOLD GARBAGE AND RECYCLING needs to be curbside no later than
    6:00 am on the scheduled pickup day to guarantee pickup.

  • All RESIDENTIAL TRASH must be bagged and tied, or bundled into small

  • RECYCLING should be placed in a container marked RECYCLE.
                 All recycled items must be rinsed out and caps removed.

  • CARDBOARD is to be broken down to a 2 foot x 2 foot in size maximum
  • SHREDDED PAPER should be sealed inside a paper bag, not plastic bag.

  • LARGE ITEMS (i.e. Furniture, Appliances (non-Freon and Freon-see below) will be
    collected on Every Other Thursday of every month.  Check the Recycle Calendar below
    and Please call in advance to schedule pickup.  The cut off will be 2:00 pm Wednesday the
    day prior to pickup day.

  • ELECTRONICS::The Town does not currently have a Spring/Fall electronics events.
    Electronic items can be picked up at your residence. Follow the LARGE Items scenario

  • FREON BASED APPLIANCES:  HARTER'S can remove these items for you but will charge
    you a $50 pickup and disposal charge.
         Check with Alliant Energy or Local appliance stores for rebates on old units.

    accepted.  For Yard waste and demo material, call the Harter's Office for pricing on a roll

  • HAZARDOUS WASTE: (Tires, Batteries, Paint, Chemicals, Waste Oil, Prescription Pills,
    InkJet Cartridges)  Please do not mix these into the weekly trash. Please separate and
    dispose of them at local county sites that accept these items for proper disposal.

discourages individual
property owners from using
burn barrels to dispose of
household garbage, and
prohibits commercial and
government facilities from
using burn barrels.

becoming the norm in
farming these days. Deciding
what to do with old or used
ag plastic containers and film
can be difficult. Burning
plastics and most other
garbage - whether in the
open or in burn barrels - is
illegal in Wisconsin.
