ONLINE BUILDING PERMIT SYSTEM
Contact either Roger Kriefall (715-526-5523) or Bob Kristof (715-304-6432) for assistance. The Town
Clerk and Chairman will be notified by the State System when a New Permit is completed Online and ready
ALL OTHER BUILDING PERMITS for Out-buildings, additions, etc, will still be thru a paper permit issued by
the Building Inspector or Town Chairman, shown to the right in the Right Column under Building Permit
COUNTY LAND USE PERMIT REQUIREMENTS
Required land use permits must be obtained prior to beginning a construction or relocation project.
After-the-fact permits will be charged a double fee. (COUNTY FEE SCHEDULE)
WHEN IS A LAND USE PERMIT REQUIRED?
A property owner must obtain a land use permit anytime a structure is to be built, moved, or structurally
Examples: Construction of a new single family dwelling, addition to an existing single family dwelling,
moving a garage onto a property, removing an existing shed and replacing it with a newly constructed
WHERE CAN LAND USE PERMITS BE OBTAINED?
Land use permits can be obtained from the Planning & Development Department located in the basement
of the Shawano County Courthouse.
HOW MUCH DOES A LAND USE PERMIT COST?
A $100.00 fee is required per structure <900 sq. ft. A $150.00 fee is required per structure >900 sq. ft.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING ALONG TO OBTAIN A LAND USE PERMIT?
•The applicant must provide a detailed drawing or site plan of the property showing all existing and
proposed structures, their dimensions (length x width) and their setback distances (in feet) from all lot
lines, water bodies, road centerlines, septic/holding tanks, septic drain fields, wells, etc.
•The applicant should provide a copy of a tax bill or a legal description of their property
•The appropriate fee (checks made payable to: Shawano County Zoning)
HOW LONG ARE LAND USE PERMITS GOOD FOR?
Upon issuance, a land use permit is in effect for 12 months. A land use permit may be renewed prior to
COUNTY SANITATION REQUIREMENTS
The Shawano County Zoning & Land Use Control Division is the designated agency for the State of
Wisconsin for the issuance of sanitary permits and inspection of all on-site waste disposal system in the
County. If you are planning a new construction project in Shawano County where public sewer service is
not available, an on-site wastewater sewage disposal system is required. A sanitary permit must be
obtained to ensure that wastes do not create a public health hazard. A sanitary permit must be obtained
prior to a building permit and all appropriate fees must be paid.
